Okay. No comic yet today. I know, I know. I had a week. But I'm working on something... special. I think you'll all enjoy it. Or I hope you do. I'm very excited about it, and I think it'll be a fun thing for Dock Boys. So, yeah. I hopefully will have the beginnings of it up later today, but my internet's been acting up again. So, in the meantime, check out my illustration site (linked below), and check back later in the week for more info on this new idea.

Oh, and I know that it says that Pat doesn't have a new review, but he posted one of the Rilo Kiley show that I hadn't read, so if you haven't, check it out in his rants section.

Later,

-Scott

Well, finally.

My illustration web site, http://www.scottdrummondillustration.com is finally up and running. It has actually been up for a couple of days, but I just haven't posted anything here about it. But you should go there and take a look around. It's got a bunch of stuff from the Kansan, the Dock Boys graphic novel that Jay and I worked on for a bit, and my robot animation. So check it out. Now. What are you waiting for?

Later,

-Scott

For Jay's update this week, we've included this blurb from the Associated Press:

LAWRENCE,KS-- You've read the comic, you've seen the poster, now keep watch for Dock Boys: The Graphic Novel.

That's correct, Dock Boys: The Graphic Novel has just gone into preproduction at Dock Studios, Inc. Jay Buettner has been tapped to pen the script, and among the rumored illustrators is Scott Drummond, known for his groundbreaking work on the weekly comic strip of same name. It is not known if he has been asked to participate or if he would agree to such a venture, but Buettner has repeatedly sung Drummond's praises and commented about how fun it would be to work with him again (Buettner and Drummond were both part of the four person think tank that originated the concept). He said "I don't know who is going to be the artist, but if it weren't Scott, it just wouldn't look right."

Talks regarding a graphic novel based on the weekly script have been around since the initial success of the concept, but Dock Studios officially signing Buettner as the writer lends an extra amount of credibility to the rumor.

"I’m really excited about it," Buettner said in an interview yesterday. "It’s going to be great – a little bit darker and more dramatic than the strip, but we’re going to do our best to keep the same mark of levity and wit that has always been a Dock Boys staple."

The studio has affirmed that DB:TGN will bear only a tangential relation to the weekly strip, that the characters will have last names and slightly different personalities, though their likeness will be the same. Plot spoilers seem to be reporting something to do with a love story between "Jay" and an unnamed new character, as well as "Scott" getting caught up in a pretty nasty drug scheme and having some particularly defaming aspersions cast his way.
